Mashego ready to fight for the Stellenbosch badge
Terrence Mashego has expressed his desire to fight for the Stellenbosch FC badge after joining the Club on a season-long loan.
Mashego has teamed up with the Maroons for the 2026-27 campaign after arriving on a loan agreement from Mamelodi Sundowns earlier this week.

The marauding full-back has since joined the squad on Stellies’ pre-season camp in Durban, where he has been left optimistic about the season that lies ahead.
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to play for Stellenbosch FC,” Mashego said. “It’s a professional Club, with a great culture, and has, over the years, produced a lot of good players.
“We have good players here now too, a mix of talented youngsters and experienced players, so we have a good squad. I believe we have a team that can compete, and that’s what we’re going to do this season.”
Mashego, who won the Nedbank Cup during a loan spell with Durban City last season, returns to the Western Cape, where he previously represented Stellies’ rivals Cape Town City between 2020 and 2022.
“I’m starting to think that I belong on the coast because I always do well when I’m in the coastal areas,” he says lightheartedly.
“I had a great time playing in Cape Town, and the people in the Western Cape love football, so I want to pick up where I left off, play regularly, and help the team.
“I can’t wait to get on the pitch, fight for the badge and my teammates, and play in front of our fans. Hopefully, I can make them happy.”

Mashego, who has won 14 caps for Bafana Bafana, started his professional career in the Eastern Cape with Mthatha Bucks before joining TS Galaxy in 2018.
There, he was part of the squad that famously won the Nedbank Cup despite playing in the National First Division at the time, and he was soon on the move again after being signed by City.
After two seasons, he joined Mamelodi Sundowns where he won three Betway Premiership titles and the African Football League prior to his spell in Durban.
