Wednesday’s Betway Premiership encounter between Stellenbosch FC and Golden Arrows will be the 16^th meeting between the two sides across all competitions.

Stellenbosch have only faced five teams, namely TS Galaxy (17), Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, AmaZulu (all 19), and Kaizer Chiefs (20) on more occasions.

The last meeting between Stellenbosch and Arrows ended in a 1-1 draw, with Genino Palace scoring for the Maroons and Nhlanhla Gasa for ‘Abafana Bes’thende.

Stellies hold the historical advantage, however, having won six and drawn six of the previous 15 meetings with their opponents from Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Chumani Butsaka will feature in his 50^th Betway Premiership appearance for Stellenbosch FC if he features during the mid-week encounter.

Ashley du Preez will similarly make his 100^th Stellenbosch FC appearance across all competitions if he takes to the pitch against Arrows.

Only Iqraam Rayners (5) and Junior Mendieta (3) have scored more goals in the fixture than Du Preez, who scored twice against Arrows during his first spell with Stellies.

Heading into the encounter, Stellenbosch FC striker Quwan Plaatjies is the joint-top goalscorer after three rounds of the Betway Premiership with three goals to his name.

The 20-year-old made history last time out against Marumo Gallants when he became the first player in PSL history to score a hat-trick on debut.

In April 2023, Olwethu Makhanya – now of Glasgow Rangers in Scotland – became Stellenbosch FC’s youngest-ever goalscorer when he netted in the Club’s 5-2 league win over Arrows.
