Basadien & Stephens named in Bafana Bafana squad
Fawaaz Basadien and Sage Stephens have been named in the Bafana Bafana squad for the upcoming 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Uganda and South Sudan.
Stellenbosch FC’s Fawaaz Basadien and Sage Stephens have been named in Hugo Broos’ 23-man squad for South Africa’s final two AFCON 2025 qualifiers against Uganda and South Sudan later this month.

Although he has yet to win his first cap, Basadien was part of the previous two Bafana Bafana squads in September and October and featured as an unused substitute across the country’s previous four qualifiers.
Stephens, meanwhile, has been called up to the national team for the first time after impressing at club level for the Maroons where he currently ranks second for clean sheets in the Betway Premiership this season
Jayden Adams, Ashley Cupido, and Devin Titus, who were previously named in the provisional squad, miss out on selection this time around.

South Africa will take on Uganda at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala, Uganda, on Friday, 15 November, before returning home to play South Sudan at the Cape Town Stadium on 19 November.
