A season in numbers – 51 facts & stats from 2024/25 campaign
The 2024/25 season was another memorable campaign for Stellenbosch FC after the club reached the MTN8 final, competed in the CAF Confederation Cup, and secured another top-three finish. Here are 50 facts and stats from a record-breaking campaign.
1) Stellenbosch FC competed in the CAF Confederation Cup for the very first time. The club reached the semi-final stage of the competition.
2) Ashley Cupido became the second different Stellenbosch player to score a brace from the bench (after Judas Moseamedi, twice) when he scored two goals in the club’s 3-2 win over TS Galaxy in February.
3) Stellenbosch FC finished in a club record-equalling third position in the Betway Premiership standings for the second consecutive season.
4) Andre de Jong scored a club-high four goals during Stellenbosch FC’s maiden CAF Confederation Cup campaign, including the club’s first-ever goal in the competition.
5) Cheswyn Philander scored five goals during Stellenbosch FC’s 9-0 DStv Diski Challenge drubbing of Chippa United.
6) The club recorded six consecutive wins from the start of the season (all competitions) for the first time, defeating TS Galaxy, Nsingizini Hotspurs twice, Mamelodi Sundowns twice, and AS Vita.
7) Including home games in South Africa, Stellenbosch FC competed in seven different countries, including DR Congo, Mali, Angola, Morocco, Egypt, and Tanzania.

8) Devin Titus was the joint-third top goalscorer in the Betway Premiership with eight goals to his name for the season.
9) With a 3-0 win and 0-0 draw, Stellenbosch FC extended their unbeaten Cape Derby run against rivals Cape Town City to nine matches, dating back to December 2020.
10) Sanele Barns became the 10th different player to represent Bafana Bafana while on the books of Stellenbosch FC when he made his international debut at the 2025 COSAFA Cup.
11) Eleven players from the squad featured in all four matches as Stellenbosch FC reached the final of the MTN8 competition for the first time. Sage Stephens was the only player to play every minute.
12) Cheswyn Philander scored a club-high 12 goals for Stellenbosch FC’s reserve team during the DStv Diski Challenge season.
13) Stellenbosch FC recorded 13 wins in a 28-match Betway Premiership season – one short of the club record in an ordinary 30-game campaign. Devin Titus scored a club-high 13 goals for the season.
14) Thabo Moloisane was the only player to have started all 14 of Stellenbosch FC’s CAF Confederation Cup matches throughout the season.
15) Fawaaz Basadien was named Stellenbosch FC’s Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season after recording 15 goal contributions (8 goals and 7 assists) for the season across all competitions.

16) Andre de Jong became the club’s highest scoring foreigner with 16 goals to his name, overtaking Argentine midfielder Junior Mendieta.
17) Excluding own goals, seventeen different players scored for Stellenbosch FC throughout the season, four more than in both the 2022-23 and 2023-24 campaigns.
18) Stellenbosch FC scored 18 goals across 14 matches in the club’s first-ever season competing in the CAF Confederation Cup.
19) Following the acquisition of Brian Onyango of Kenya, players from 19 different countries have represented Stellenbosch FC.
20) Faiz Abrahams, Langelihle Phili, Tylon Smith, and youth goalkeeper coach Morne Crumpton, helped South Africa’s U-20s win the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations for the first time ever.

21) Stellenbosch FC conceded 21 goals during the 2024-25 season, the club’s fewest number of goals conceded in a single top-flight season.
22) At the age of 22 years, 4 months & 4 days, Ibraheem Jabaar became the youngest player to reach 100+ appearances for Stellenbosch FC across all competitions.
23) At the age of 23, Ibraheem Jabaar became the second player to win Stellenbosch FC’s Young Player of the Season award for the second time, equalling Jayden Adams’ record.
24) Goalkeepers Sage Stephens (17) and Oscarine Masuluke (7) kept 24 clean sheets between them and conceded just 43 goals in 51 matches.
25) Stellenbosch FC fielded the season with a squad averaging 25 years in age, with Brian Onyango, Sage Stephens, and Lee Langeveldt the only players aged 30 or above.
26) Sihle Nduli earned just over 26% of the overall votes to win the second edition of the Rama Fans Player of the Season award.

27) Following a 1-1 draw and a 3-2 win, Stellenbosch FC has scored 27 goals against TS Galaxy in total – the most against any single opponent.
28) Devin Titus was the only player who featured in all 28 of Stellenbosch FC’s Betway Premiership season. He was also previously an ever-present during the 2022-23 campaign.
29) Following goals off the bench from Genino Palace, Omega Mdaka, Chumani Butsaka, Ibraheem Jabaar, Devin Titus, and Lesiba Nku, 29 different substitutes have now scored goals for Stellenbosch FC.
30) At the age of 23 years, 9 months & 17 days, Devin Titus became only the second player to score 30+ career goals for Stellenbosch FC, after Iqraam Rayners.
31) Kyle Jurgens became the 31st player to reach 50+ appearances for the club, and the 5th to do so from graduates of the club’s DStv Diski Challenge programme.
32) Devin Titus has climbed to second position on Stellies’ all-time scoring charts with 32 goals across all competitions.
33) Stellies’ DStv Diski challenge team boasted a +33 goal difference after scoring a league-high 61 goals during the 2024-25 reserve league season.
34) Stellenbosch FC scored 34 goals in the Betway Premiership, the fourth highest in the competition this season behind Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, and Sekhukhune United.

35) The Stellenbosch FC Ladies team recorded 35 points in their maiden season to end third in the 2024 SASOL Women’s League Western Cape Stream B.
36) Andre de Jong’s 36th-minute goal against Nszingizini Hotspurs was Stellenbosch FC’s first-ever goal in the CAF Confederation Cup.
37) At the age of 37, club captain Lee Langeveldt was the oldest player to be registered in the Stellenbosch FC squad at the start of the season.

44) Rama Fans’ Player of the Season, Sihle Nduli, featured in a career-high 44 appearances for the season and scored the match-winning goal against Zamalek in the CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinals.

51) Stellenbosch FC competed in a club-record 51 matches across all competitions, including outings in the Betway Premiership, Carling Knockout, MTN8, Nedbank Cup, and CAF Confederation Cup. Devin Titus was the only player to feature in all 51 matches.
