Stellenbosch FC’s Fawaaz Basadien, Sage Stephens, and Devin Titus all featured during the international break as Bafana Bafana concluded their qualification campaign for the 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations.

South Africa secured qualification for next year’s AFCON tournament in Morocco after recording back-to-back wins over Uganda and South Sudan during the November international break, finishing undefeated at the top of the Group K standings.

Their campaign drew to an entertaining end at Cape Town Stadium on Tuesday evening where a packed crowd witnessed Bafana Bafana claim a 3-0 victory over the latter, with Iqraam Rayners, Patrick Maswanganyi, and Teboho Mokoena finding the back of the net.

It was a doubly special occasion for Stellies’ Fawaaz Basadien who made his first start for the national team on the night – having earlier debuted from the bench in the win over Uganda – and the full-back delivered a sterling performance in his hometown.

He was joined in the second half by club teammates Sage Stephens, who at the age of 33, came on to replace captain Ronwen Williams to make his long-awaited debut, and Devin Titus, who looked threatening in attack in his first appearance for South Africa since the 2024 COSAFA Cup.
