Stellenbosch Football Club is pleased to announce that midfielder Darrel Matsheke has rejoined the Club for a second spell.

Matsheke previously represented Stellenbosch during the 2023-24 season and was part of the squad that won the Carling Knockout trophy, notably scoring the winning spot-kick during the penalty shootout victory over TS Galaxy in the final.

He ultimately made 12 appearances across all competitions during his first stint in the Winelands, before going on to play for the likes of Pretoria Callies and Kruger United.

“It feels great to be back at Stellenbosch FC,” Matsheke said. “It was unexpected, but I am really happy to be here. I can only thank God for the opportunity, and the Club and the coach for trusting me enough to bring me back.

“I want to pick up where I left off on the field and help the team compete for more. I missed out on the opportunity to play in Africa last time, so there’s a bit of unfinished business, but this is a second chance for me to do more and achieve those goals.”

Matsheke will wear the No. 31 jersey this season and be in line to make his debut when the Maroons take on Kruger United in the Betway Premiership this weekend.
