Stellenbosch FC’s Jayden Adams and Fawaaz Basadien have been called up to represent South Africa in the upcoming 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Uganda and South Sudan.

Adams and Basadien have both teamed up with the Bafana Bafana squad ahead of the country’s upcoming 2025 AFCON qualifiers, the first of which takes place against Uganda at Orlando Stadium on Friday evening.

For Basadien, who has scored three times from left-back in the opening five matches of Stellies’ domestic season, the call-up represents an opportunity for him to make his senior international debut.

Adams, meanwhile, has won five caps in the gold and green jersey and was part of the national team squad that won the bronze medal at the 2023 CAF Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Ivory Coast.

The match between South Africa and Uganda kicks off at 18h00 on Friday, before the team departs to take on South Sudan on the road on 10 September.
