Injury update ahead of AmaZulu clash
Coach Gavin Hunt has provided an injury update ahead of Stellenbosch FC’s Carling Knockout Cup quarter-final clash against AmaZulu on Sunday.
Tlakusani Mthethwa and Lateef Kazeem have returned to training after recovering from their respective knocks, although Sunday’s match will arrive too soon for either Mosa Lebusa or Genino Palace to feature.
“We have one or two that are back at training, like Bafana Mthethwa, Kazeem,” Hunt said. “That gives us a little bit of hope, but obviously we don’t know yet if they’re going to be ready to play. But, they certainly can come into the squad and give us a bit more depth.
“I think that’s something that has really hurt us since the start of the season, our squad depth. We’ve missed a lot of players and if you compare it to AmaZulu, they’ve had their best XI available most of the time.
“We are now getting one or two back, but there are still others like Mosa Lebusa who hasn’t played and Genino Palace who won’t be available this weekend.”
Stellenbosch FC also remain without the services of defender Surprise Nhlabathi who continues to recover from a long-term injury.
Kick off is scheduled for 18h00 on Sunday, 8 November 2026. Tickets are availble in digital-format only for R100 from Open Tickets outlets. No physical tickets are available, nor will printouts will be accepted.
