Luthando Vena signs first pro contract with Stellenbosch FC
Stellenbosch Football Club is delighted to announce that Academy graduate and Kayamandi local, Luthando Vena, has signed his first professional contract with the Club.
Hailing from Kayamandi in Stellenbosch, Vena joined the Maroons’ ranks at the age of 16 and quickly progressed through the development teams, ultimately starring for the Club’s DStv Diski Challenge side last season.
He was subsequently promoted to the first team and featured during the Club’s recent pre-season camp in Durban, and has now put pen to paper on his first professional contract.
“It’s a great honour for me to sign my first professional contract with Stellenbosch FC,” Vena said. “I worked hard for this, and I’m happy that I’m able to make my mother proud.
“I’ve had a great experience at Stellenbosch, learning from all the different Academy and Senior coaches, and adapting to their playing styles. It’s been a rewarding journey for me so far, and I’m looking forward to learning and growing more alongside the experienced players.
“I’m someone who plays with his heart, and who plays for the badge in every single game, so it’s special for me to be able to represent Stellenbosch and my community. I dreamed of playing for this team when I was young, and I hope to be an example for other young players.
“I obviously need to work hard to earn my place, but it’s an exciting prospect to know that I could make my senior debut this season. I’m incredibly happy to be here and to have this opportunity.”
