Five Stellies players named in preliminary Bafana squad
Stellenbosch FC’s Fawaaz Basadien, Ashley Cupido, Thabo Moloisane, Sage Stephens, and Devin Titus have been named in South Africa’s provisional squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin.
On Tuesday afternoon, Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos announced a 37-man preliminary squad for two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin later this month.
Five players from Stellenbosch FC—namely Fawaaz Basadien, Ashley Cupido, Thabo Moloisane, Sage Stephens, and Devin Titus—have been named as part of the provisional selection after impressing with the Winelands-based team in recent months.

Basadien, Stephens, and Titus were part of South Africa’s previous squad that recorded back-to-back AFCON qualifying wins over Uganda and South Sudan last year, while Cupido and Moloisane previously turned out for the national team at the COSAFA Cup.
The final selection will be confirmed in the coming days, ahead of the two matches that are scheduled to take place between 17-26 March 2025.
Elsewhere, Stellies’ Thulani Mini and Tylon Smith are also part of South Africa’s separate CHAN squad that is currently in camp for two qualifying matches against Egypt.
