Stellenbosch FC’s Head of Youth, Jean-Pierre Farrugia, has congratulated all of the club and country’s pupils who matriculated from high school earlier this week.

Earlier this week, the National Department of Basic Education released the matric results for the 2024 academic year, with six Stellenbosch FC academy players, namely Joshua Bailey, Cade Gordon, captain Azasakhe Luthango (pictured), Zay-dee Marang, Leathan Davids, and Roger Willemse, among those to receive their matric certificates.

“We wish to congratulate all of the matriculants on the fantastic achievement,” Farrugia said. “It’s a huge milestone in anybody’s academic career, and it’s something that is not easy to do, especially when they are playing for an elite academy like that of Stellenbosch Football Club.

“The demands and expectations are high, and the fact that they have been able to manage both schoolwork and football, during a very successful year that required a lot of dedication and commitment, is something that we are proud of and that they can be really proud of.

“We believe that it will hold them in good stead as they move forward as young adults and that they will be able to use this experience to learn how to manage the many facets of life.

“We hold education dearly at Stellenbosch and are grateful to the schools that have invested in these boys to help them in their journeys. It’s a fantastic achievement from all of the matriculants, especially ours, and their families who have supported them all the way through. We congratulate them and wish them all of the best in the coming years as they progress into adulthood.”
