Onyango: I want to leave the SFC jersey better than I found it
New Stellenbosch FC signing Brian Onyango is hoping to ‘leave the jersey better than he found it’ by helping the club win more silverware this season.
A towering centre-back and full international with Kenya, Onyango joined Stellenbosch FC as a free agent earlier this week after parting ways with Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of last season.

Speaking following his move to the Cape Winelands, the 30-year-old revealed that he has immediately bought into the Stellies project and is hoping to help add to the Carling Knockout title the club won last season.
“First of all, I would like to thank the almighty God for giving me another opportunity to showcase my talent, and the coach, technical staff, and management for affording me the chance to join the club,” Onyango said.
“Stellenbosch FC is a good, competitive club with ambitions to challenge for the title and in the cup competitions. There are very few players who could say no to a project like this.
“I’ve had the opportunity to meet and train with my new teammates and I have learned that they are good human beings, so I’m looking forward to getting started with the team.
“I’m also looking forward to sharing some of my experience with the squad and at the same time learning from their experience, because football is a journey where you have to keep learning every day.

“As for the season ahead, I was always taught to leave the jersey better than I found it, so I am looking forward to a good campaign and helping the team do even better than last year.”
