Stellenbosch FC’s Thabo Moloisane, Athenkosi Mcaba, Devin Titus, and Antonio van Wyk will return home this week after South Africa were eliminated from the 2024 COSAFA Cup on Tuesday afternoon.

Bafana Bafana were knocked out of the competition despite recording a 1-0 over Eswatini and not losing a match in the group stage, narrowly missing out on progression to the next round by virtue of a weaker goal difference to Mozambique.

Stellies’ Thabo Moloisane started all three of South Africa’s matches throughout the tournament in Gqeberha, including Tuesday’s win over Shilangu Semnikati, and helped the national team keep two clean sheets in the process.

Club teammate Devin Titus was named in the run-on XI for the opening two matches against Mozambique and Botswana, while Antonio van Wyk and Athenkosi Mcaba featured off the bench in the second and third matches of the group stage.

The quartet will now return to Stellenbosch in the coming days where they will regroup with the rest of the squad as the club continues its pre-season preparations ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
