Steve Barker has called on his side to make amends for the early-season loss to Polokwane City when the two sides meet again in a league encounter this weekend.

Following two consecutive away matches against Sekhukhune United and TS Galaxy, Stellenbosch FC have returned home for a DStv Premiership fixture against Polokwane City on Saturday evening at Danie Craven Stadium.

The weekend’s encounter is the second of two league meetings between the two sides this season, with the guests having emerged victorious last time out, and Stellies head coach Steve Barker is eager to make amends for that defeat.

“Polokwane City have shown themselves to be a good team this season and one that is difficult to beat,” Barker said.

“They beat us in our previous fixture so it’s important that we maintain the consistency we’ve been showing and take what is a massive opportunity to cement our spot in second position in the league.

“It’s equally important that we don’t underestimate our opposition and that we continue to play with the belief and confidence that we’re playing with currently.

“Preparations have been going well and we are injury-free, with the only unavailable player being Sihle Nduli, who is suspended.”

Stellenbosch head into the match against Rise and Shine on the back of a club-record 23-match unbeaten run across all competitions, with the team having last tasted defeat in September last year.
