Barker: It’s a vitally important match against Sekhukhune United
Steve Barker believes his side will have to match their performance from Saturday’s resounding win over SuperSport United if they are to come away with all three points against Sekhukhune United on Wednesday.
On the back of recording a 4-0 win over SuperSport United in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals, Stellenbosch FC return to league action on Wednesday with a DStv Premiership encounter against Sekhukhune United.

The clash sees the two sides meet for the second time this month, with them having played out a goalless draw in the reverse fixture at Danie Craven Stadium, and could carry major ramifications in the race for continental qualification for next season.
“After a very convincing performance in the Nedbank Cup quarter-final against SuperSport United, it’s back to the league, with a back-to-back league fixture against Sekhukhune United,” Barker said.
“They have been a difficult opponent for us to face over the last couple of years and even in our last match. Conditions weren’t ideal but it was not an easy tie, although I do think we created the better chances and were unlucky not to get maximum points.
“We will be playing at their home ground now, though, and they have a good record there, so it’s important for us to build on Saturday’s performance with another of the same calibre if we want to get the win.
“It’s a vitally important match for us and if we’re able to get all three points, it will put us in a really, really strong position going into the last few games of the season.”
