Stellenbosch FC’s Steve Barker and Iqraam Rayners have won the DStv Premiership Coach of the Month and Player of the Month awards, respectively, for November/December 2023.

The Premier Soccer League has named the monthly DStv Premiership award recipients for the period covering November and December last year to reveal that Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker and striker Iqraam Rayners were among the bigger winners.

Thursday’s announcement comes after Barker masterminded a six-match unbeaten run in the league towards the end of last year, which included victories over Richards Bay, AmaZulu, and Orlando Pirates, as well as derby wins over rivals Cape Town Spurs and Cape Town City. This is his second award with the club, having previously claimed it in May 2022 as well.

Rayners top-scored for Stellenbosch with four goals in the festive season, including a game-turning finish in the club’s 3-2 come-from-behind triumph in the club’s year-ending fixture against the Buccaneers.

The 28-year-old, who is currently on the standby list for Bafana Bafana’s ongoing CAF Africa Cup of Nations campaign, has now won three DStv Premiership Player of the Months awards, having claimed back-to-back accolades in February/March and April last year.
