Deano van Rooyen believes Stellenbosch FC are ready for the challenge posed by Polokwane City ahead of Friday’s Carling Knockout quarter-final clash.

Stellenbosch FC will be traveling to the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday evening to take on Polokwane City in the quarter-final of the 2023 Carling Knockout competition.

Carling Knockout quarter-final details confirmed

The Maroons advanced to the last-eight stage after recording a 2-1 win over Chippa United in Gqeberha last month, and captain, Deano van Rooyen, is optimistic that the club can record another victory on the road.

“The mood has been good in camp and everyone is excited,” Van Rooyen said ahead of the encounter. “We’re going to Polokwane to win this match.”

“Picking up the win away from home against Chippa United has given us a boost heading into these quarter-finals. We know it’s going to be a difficult game and that they are going to come out fully focused, but we are prepared for whatever they bring at us.

“We also know this feeling with cup competitions, having reached a couple of semi-finals, so we just need to find that edge to go one step further, just that little bit extra to get us over the line and eventually into a final.”

Friday’s match is scheduled to kick off at 19h30 and will be broadcast live on SuperSport PSL 202. Supporters will also be able to receive live updates by following the club across its various social media platforms.
