Stellenbosch FC Ladies enjoyed a historic outing on Saturday after defeating Diepkloof Ladies to claim their first-ever Hollywoodbets Super League victory.

The SFC Ladies wrote another chapter into Stellenbosch FC’s history books after claiming the Club’s first-ever win in the South African top-flight, downing Diepkloof Ladies 1-0 in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

Jade Jones, who scored the Club’s first goal earlier in the season, was the difference-maker on the day as her 40th-minute strike earned the Maroons all three points.

“This means everything to us,” co-coach Ilze Jones said after the match. “The girls gave their all today. We’ve been working hard towards this win, and we wanted this one, so it was a great game from the players and I’m really proud of them.

“The job’s not done yet though. We still need to fight, and there’s three games coming up, and we’re going to show up for every one of those games.”
