Friday’s match will be the 17^th meeting between Stellenbosch FC and TS Galaxy across all competitions, dating back to the first clash in the National First Division in December 2018.

During that period, Stellenbosch have recorded 11 victories over the Galaxy, a record for the Club against any single opponent.

The Rockets, however, claimed a 2-0 Betway Premiership win in the reverse encounter in November last year, which was the first time a Stellies side had suffered defeat in the fixture.

Stellenbosch FC forward Devin Titus has scored four goals in fixtures between the two sides, the most by any player (equal with Iqraam Rayners).

Stellies have scored 27 goals across the previous 16 meetings against Galaxy, which is at least three more than the Club has scored against any other opponent.

Stellenbosch FC and TS Galaxy famously met in the final of the 2023 Carling Knockout where the team from the Cape Winelands emerged victorious following a penalty-shootout win.

Just one point separates eighth-placed Galaxy from ninth-placed Stellenbosch in the Betway Premiership standings, although the Maroons hold a game in hand.

Langelihle Phili has scored nine goals across all competitions this season. If he scores against the Rockets on Friday, he will become the first Stellies player to reach double figures for the campaign.

Phili is also Stellenbosch’s leading scorer in the Betway Premiership with seven goals this season, while Seluleko Mahlambi, who scored in reverse fixture, is tops for Galaxy with five.
