It was a memorable season for Stellies’ youngsters that saw the U-12 and U-14 teams crowned De Beers champions at the start of the year, the U-12s and U-16s ending as runners-up in their respective leagues, and the U-18 side ending third in theirs.
Head of Youth, Jean-Pierre Farrugia, also expressed his pride at having no fewer than three players promoted to Stellenbosch’s DStv Diski Programme, including goalkeeper Nathan Langeveldt, who took home the U-18 Player of the Season award.
A combined team of U-12 and U-14 players has since departed for Saudi Arabia, where they are set to take on Ascoli Calcio of Italy, Liga Deportiva Alajuelense of Costa Rica, and hosts Mahd Academy at the Mahd Intercontinental Cup.
