Stellenbosch FC’s Thulani Mini and Tylon Smith have been called up to represent South Africa in the upcoming 2025 CHAN qualification matches against Egypt.

The South African men’s national team will take on Egypt in two qualification matches for the 2025 CHAN competition, hosting the Pharaohs in Bloemfontein on 28 February before playing the return leg in North Africa on 9 March.

Stellenbosch defender Tylon Smith and forward Thulani Mini have been called up to the squad and are expected to join the camp on 26 February in preparation for the set of qualifiers.

Athenkosi Mcaba was also initially included in the selection but is unable to take part as he continues to recover from a thigh injury that has seen him miss Stellies’ last three matches.

Smith, who is yet to make his senior club debut for Stellies, was previously part of the South Africa squad that won the recent U-20 COSAFA Championships, while Mini is in line to represent his country for the first time.
