Sanele Barns is looking forward to facing his former team when Stellenbosch FC take on Richards Bay on Saturday afternoon.

Stellenbosch FC have travelled to Durban where they are set to face off against Richards Bay in a Betway Premiership encounter at King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday.

The Maroons head into the encounter on the back of an impressive mid-week win over Chippa United during a match in which Ashley Cupido and Devin Titus both scored their first league goals of the season.

“It was a good win for the team against Chippa United and I think it will give us a boost ahead of the weekend to have picked up all three points,” Stellies midfielder Sanele Barns said.

Barns, who joined Stellenbosch from Richards Bay at the start of the season, also revealed that he was excited to face his former team and that he was expecting a tough encounter against the Kwa-Zulu Natal-based side.

“It’s nice to be back playing against my former team but I now have a job to do with Stellenbosch and hopefully it will be a good match,” he added.

“It will be a difficult game because Richards Bay don’t concede many goals and their defence is strong, but on the other hand, we are ready and prepared for that as a team and we’re going there looking to get the win.

The Betway Premiership match between Stellenbosch FC and Richards Bay is scheduled to kick off at 15h00 and will be streamed on SuperSport OTT 6, channel 950.
