Stellenbosch FC signs Chumani Butsaka from Cape Town Spurs

Stellenbosch Football Club is delighted to announce that the Club has acquired the services of Chumani Butsaka from Cape Town Spurs on a long-term permanent transfer.

The midfielder made 116 appearances across all competitions during his time at Ikamva and captained Spurs since the start of the 2023/24 league campaign.

He also previously represented South Africa at the 2022 COSAFA Cup where he scored on debut in a 2-1 win over Madagascar.

“We are delighted to welcome Chumani to the Club,” Stellenbosch FC CEO Rob Benadie said.

“At 22 years of age, he has already made over 100 professional appearances and shown himself to be a leader, which is a testament to his ability and maturity on and off the field of play.

“We congratulate Cape Town Spurs on the excellent development of this player, who we believe will play a key role in the future success of our ambitious Club.”

Butsaka will wear the No. 15 jersey this season and could be in line to make his debut in Stellenbosch FC’s 2024/25 Betway Premiership season-opener against Golden Arrows on Wednesday afternoon
