Stellies youngsters gear up for Bayhill 2024

The Stellenbosch FC U-18 team is gearing up for the start of the 2024 Bayhill Premier Cup competition.

Easter weekend is upon us and for the football community that means it’s time for the prestigious Bayhill Premier Cup. The tournament is set to kick-off on Wednesday, 27 March 2024, and runs until the final day Monday, 1 April.

This year the group matches and knockout stages will be played at Erica Park, while the final is set to take place at Athlone Stadium. The tournament consists of 32 teams with Stellenbosch FC, Cape Town Spurs, Cape Town City, Chippa United, and Mamelodi Sundowns representing top-flight clubs.

Head coach of Stellies’ side, Jean Pierre Farrugia, has named his 20-man squad to partake in this year’s tournament:

Stellenbosch will open their campaign against Rebels FC before completing their group stage commitments on Saturday against Amalawu, with a tough clash against Highlands Park wedged in between.

Fixtures:

Wednesday, 27 March 2024 : SFC vs Rebels FC at 16:15
Thursday, 28 March 2024 : SFC vs Highlands Park FC at 18:45
Saturday, 30 March 2024 : SFC vs Amalawu FC at 10:45

Last year, Farrugia’s side were eliminated at the quarter-final stage of the competition, before going on to win the regional Engen Knockout Challenge and national Engen Champ of Champs tournaments later in the year.
