Stellenbosch Football Club is delighted to announce that Fawaaz Basadien has committed his future to the Maroons after signing a new long-term contract.

“I owe Stellenbosch FC a great deal of loyalty as the club has added tremendous value to my growth as a footballer,” Basadien said.

“I believe the club is moving in the right direction, both for me as an individual and for the team, so it wasn’t a difficult decision for me to extend my contract in Stellenbosch.

“The new deal offers me the security and comfort to improve and develop my game even more, as well as achieve more success with the team and further my ambitions of playing for Bafana Bafana.”

Basadien joined Stellenbosch FC from Moroka Swallows in 2022 and has to date made 47 appearances for the club across all competitions.

He also played an important role in the team winning its first-ever cup competition after featuring prominently throughout the Maroons’ triumphant Carling Knockout campaign in December last year.

“As a club, we are delighted Fawaaz will be extending his stay in Stellenbosch,” Stellenbosch FC CEO Rob Benadie said.

“He has shown tremendous character and quality since joining the club and his recommitment is a welcome boost to our ambitions of achieving even more success together.”
