Kgaogelo Sekgota has revealed that he is enjoying his football at Stellenbosch FC after scoring his first goal for the club.

Sekgota, who joined Stellenbosch from Kaizer Chiefs at the start of the season, opened his goalscoring account for the Maroons on Saturday when he found the back of the net in the 2-1 Carling Knockout Round of 16 win over Chippa United, netting the decisive second goal with a well-taken finish inside the box.

Following the match, the 26-year-old played down the significance of his individual contribution and chose instead to credit his teammates and the technical staff for the role they had played in making it possible.

“First of all, I would like to thank my teammates and the coach for the opportunity that they have given me, and for their support,” Sekgota said. “We are motivated, working hard as a team, and playing well, and because of that, I am feeling good.

“A big part of the culture in Stellenbosch is around grapes, and the grapes are sweet. I’m enjoying my football and very happy to be here.”
