Devin Titus has been labeled as a revelation for Stellenbosch FC ahead of the forward making his 50th appearance for the club.

Titus is expected to make his 50th career appearance for Stellenbosch FC on Wednesday when the Maroons take on reigning DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns in Pretoria.

Ahead of the milestone, Stellies head coach Steve Barker was full of praise for the 22-year-old who has been a regular fixture in the first team since making his professional debut against Black Leopards back in January 2021.

“Devin has become very valuable to us in a very short space of time,” Barker said. “He’s had a remarkable rise in his career, having captained our DDC team to the title in 2022 and then won the Nxt Gen Tournament in the United Kingdom, before being permanently promoted.

“Since then he’s been a revelation for us, not least in terms of the energy that he brings, both with the ball and without it. He’s got the ability to run in behind defences and the ability to combine and deliver into the box.

“Defensively he’s very disciplined and he’s very tactically aware as a footballer, but probably his biggest attribute is his character and attitude. He works hard each and every day at training, always looking to improve himself.

“I believe that he embodies everything that Stellenbosch FC is about and it’s good to see that he’s already making his 50th appearance for the club in such a short space of time since being promoted.”

Titus, a South Africa U-23 international, was nominated for the Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player award last season and was also named as Stellenbosch FC’s Young Footballer of the Season for the 2022/23 campaign after featuring in all-but-one match last term.

The club’s reserve team No. 7 jersey was also previously retired in his honour in 2022 following his heroics during the title-winning 2021/22 DStv Diski Challenge season.
