The Betway Premiership encounter between Stellenbosch FC and Kaizer Chiefs will be the 21st meeting between the two Clubs.

Chiefs are the side that Stellenbosch FC has faced on the most occasions in the Club’s history (20), ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, and AmaZulu (all 19).

Stellies emerged victorious in the last meeting against the Amakhosi after goals from Devin Titus and Langelihle Phili earned the team from the Winelands a 2-1 win.

Titus, who has since moved to Morocco, is also the fixture’s all-time leading goalscorer with three goals for the Maroons, level with former Chiefs striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana.

A total of 33 different players have scored across the fixture, with Ashley Du Preez being the only player to have done so for both teams (One for Stellenbosch and two for Chiefs).

Du Preez is one of six former Chiefs players currently on Stellenbosch’s books, alongside George Matlou, Given Msimango, Njabulo Blom, Darrel Matsheke and Gopolang Taunyana, plus coach Gavin Hunt.

The Glamour Boys similarly have several ex-Stellies stars in their ranks, such as Langelihle Phili, Thabo Moloisane, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Zitha Kwinika, Dillon Solomons, and loanee Faiz Abrahams.

Stellenbosch head into the match on the back of a 1-0 league win over Kruger United before the international break, during which Keanan Johannesen scored his first goal for the Club.

In the same fixture, midfielder Darrel Matsheke made his second debut for the Maroons after returning to the Club before the closing of the transfer window.

Chiefs, meanwhile, were held to a goalless draw by Golden Arrows last time out, but sit four points ahead of Stellies on the log standings ahead of Tuesday’s encounter.
