Keanan Johannesen pens first professional contract with Stellenbosch FC
Stellenbosch Football Club is proud to announce that Jamestown-born midfielder Keanan Johannesen has signed his first professional contract with the Club.
Having been named Stellenbosch FC’s Reserve Team Player of the Year last season, Keanan Johannesen has taken the next step in his career by penning his first professional contract with the Club.
“It’s a really proud moment for me, coming through the ranks to sign my first professional contract,” Johannesen, who joined Stellies at the age of 14, said.
“If you look at the talent that has been promoted to Stellenbosch FC’s first team over the years, it’s encouraging for a young player. Everyone wants to play for Stellenbosch because the Club provides those opportunities.
“It’s also amazing to have two new players from Stellenbosch in the first team (Luthando Vena having also signed a pro contract). Lee Langeveldt was in the squad last season, so it’s great for us to step up and follow in his footsteps.
“There’s more weight on us as local players because are always looking at us and expecting us to do well, and we know we have that responsibility to give our all because that’s what opens the door for more players from the Academy and in Stellenbosch.
“That’s a challenge I look forward to, and I know the environment is good for me because if you work hard and play well here, you’re going to get your chance.”
