De Jong named in New Zealand squad to face Poland & Norway

Andre de Jong has been called up to the New Zealand national team squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Poland and Norway.

De Jong’s impressive domestic form with Stellenbosch FC has earned him an international call-up after he was named in coach Darren Bazeley’s 23-man squad to face Poland and Norway in two friendlies next month.

The 28-year-old, who made his senior debut for New Zealand in 2018, returns to the fold for the first time in three years and will look to add to the ten international caps and two goals he boasts to his name.

The All Whites face Poland at Stadion Śląski in Chorzów on Friday, 10 October, before travelling across Europe five days later to take on Norway at Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo. Both matches can be streamed on FIFA+.

At the time of writing, New Zealand are one of 17 countries that have qualified for the expanded 48-team 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is set to be held across Canada, Mexico, and the United States from June to July next year.
