Stellenbosch FC will return to Danie Craven next weekend when the club hosts Sekhukhune United in the first leg of the MTN8 semi-finals.

Stellenbosch advanced to the semi-final of the MTN8 for the third consecutive season after recording an enthralling 3-2 win over AmaZulu last Sunday, in a tie that went all the way to extra-time at DHL Stadium in Cape Town.

That result has set up an exciting tie against Sekhukhune United in the semi-finals of this year’s competition, where it has been confirmed that the first leg will be played at Stellies’ traditional home, Danie Craven Stadium.

“It’s always nice to stay in competitions, and our aim is now to get to the final, so it was good for us to get past AmaZulu,” Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker said.

“It wasn’t an easy game and stretched us to our limits, but fortunately, we showed enough resilience throughout the match and scored a nice match-winning goal through Langelihle Phili. I’m very pleased for him and happy to be in the semi-finals.

“Sekhukhune United have shown real consistency and will be a good, tough team to play against in the semis, but we are looking forward to it. We made the final last season, so we would like to do it again and this time go all the way.”
