Smith & Khanyi among PSL awards winners
Tylon Smith, who recently departed Stellenbosch FC to join Queens Park Rangers in England, and Muzomuhle Khanyi, a new signing ahead of the upcoming campaign, were both among the winners at the 2024-25 PSL awards ceremony.
Jamestown-born Smith, who recently joined English Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers, earned the DStv Diski Challenge’s highest individual honour after being named Player of the Season at the PSL’s virtual awards evening on Tuesday evening.
The recognition followed a stellar campaign for the 20-year-old centre-back whose stellar performances in defence helped Stellenbosch challenge for the reserve league title, albeit with the team falling narrowly short at the final reckoning.

Khanyi, meanwhile, took home both the Motsepe Foundation Championship Top Scorer and Players’ Player of the Season awards in recognition of his outstanding performances for Hungry Lions FC during the 2024-25 campaign.
The former South Africa youth international netted an impressive 18 league goals in the second division before completing a transfer to Stellenbosch last month, where he will compete in the top-flight and in continental football during the upcoming season.
