Stellenbosch FC defender Brian Onyango has been called up to the Kenya national team for the country’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Gambia and Gabon later this month.

Onyango is set to return to international football after being named in the Harambee Stars’ squad for this month’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Gambia and Gabon on 20 and 23 March, respectively.

The veteran defender last featured in October 2023 during a friendly against Russia and boasts 39 international caps to his name since making his debut back in 2011.

Onyango is one of six Stellies players who could feature during the international break after club teammates Sage Stephens, Fawaaz Basadien, Thabo Moloisane, Devin Titus, and Ashley Cupido were so named in Bafana Bafana’s provisional squad.

Meanwhile, Thulani Mini and Tylon Smith are currently in camp with South Africa’s ‘B’ squad for their 2025 CHAN qualifiers against Egypt.
