Stellenbosch FC is proud to announce that five of our players have been named in the provisional 38-man Bafana Bafana squad for the upcoming 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Uganda and South Sudan.

Goalkeeper Sage Stephens has earned his first-ever call-up to the South African national team after recording eight clean sheets in 13 appearances across all competitions this season, including three in four games in the Betway Premiership and a Man of the Match display against Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 semi-finals.

He is joined by Fawaaz Basadien who is also vying for his debut cap after previously being included and featuring as an unused substitute in Bafana Bafana’s last two squads. Basadien has enjoyed a stellar club campaign thus far and has scored four goals on top of his otherwise consistent defensive performances.

Jayden Adams returns to the international mix and will be looking to add to the six caps he has to his name with selection in the final squad. The 23-year-old midfielder notably represented South Africa at the 2023 AFCON where he helped the country win the bronze medal at the tournament held in Ivory Coast.

Devin Titus and Ashley Cupido complete the Stellenbosch contingent and previously featured together at the 2024 COSAFA Cup. Titus recently won back-to-back Man of the Match awards in Stellies’ wins over AmaZulu and Chippa United, respectively, while Cupido opened his account with the club in the win over the latter earlier this month.

South Africa will take on Uganda at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala, Uganda, on Friday, 15 November, before returning home to play South Sudan at the Cape Town Stadium on 19 November. The final 23-man squad will be announced on 7 November, with the selected players set to report to camp four days later.
