Stellies’ Crumpton called upon to mould SA U-20 ‘keepers

Stellenbosch FC youth goalkeeper coach Morné Crumpton will form part of the South Africa U-2o national team’s backroom staff for the upcoming training camp later this month.

Stellenbosch FC will be represented both on the pitch and in the dugout after youth goalkeeper coach Morné Crumpton, who also serves as the club’s head youth administrator, was called up to work with Amajita’s young ‘keepers later this month.

Crumpton will join the playing trio of Tyler Cicero, Langelihle Phili, and Tylon Smith in the camp after they were previously called up to represent the country at the upcoming meet at SAFA’s Fun Valley in Johannesburg.

The shot-stopping instructor played a pivotal role in Stellies’ recent triumphs at U-18 level, where the team won the Engen Knockout Challenge and Engen Champ of Champs competitions in 2023, as well at U-16 level where the club won the league, FC Kapstadt, and 4th Moment Tournament trophies.

Crumpton was also previously named Manager of the Tournament at the 2023 Bayview where the Young Maroons won a silver medal.

He and the aforementioned Cicero, Phili, and Smith, will be in camp from 21 March until 27 March as they work towards preparing for the 2025 CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers
