Stellies trio named in SA-U20 squad for training camp
Langelihle Phili, Tyler Cicero, and Tylon Smith have been called up to the South Africa national U-20 squad for a training camp at the SAFA National Technical Centre later this month.
Stellenbosch FC’s Langelihle Phili, Tyler Cicero, and Tylon Smith (pictured) have been named in the national men’s U-20 squad that will travel to Johannesburg next week for a week-long training camp under newly-appointed head coach Raymond Mdaka.
The trio earned their respective call-ups following a string of impressive displays in the DStv Diski Challenge where they have helped the club mount another title challenge this season, with the Young Maroons currently sitting second on the log.

Cicero previously represented South Africa at U-17 level but Tuesday’s announcement sees him, Smith, and Phili all take a step up to the national U-20 squad for the first time, and for what will be an opportunity to impress ahead of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers later this year.
Meanwhile, first-team striker Iqraam Rayners was also called up to the Bafana Bafana squad earlier this week for South Africa’s upcoming FIFA Series friendlies against Andorra and Algeria, in Algeria.
Rayners returns to the fold for the first time since representing the country at the 2023 COSAFA Cup, while teammate Jayden Adams, named in the provisional squad, missed out on the final selection through injury.
