Stellenbosch FC climbed back into the top eight in the DStv Premiership standings following a comprehensive win over Swallows FC at the Danie Craven Stadium on Saturday.

On a wet evening in Stellenbosch, it was goals that rained down as the hosts romped to a 3-0 win over Swallows in a crucial DStv Premiership encounter at the Danie Craven Stadium.
Proceedings were off to a slow start due to the challenging weather conditions and it was Swallows who had the first real attempt at goal, with Sage Stephens forced to make a diving save during the early stages of the encounter.
In-form Stellies striker Iqraam Rayners then had a gilt-edged chance to give Stellenbosch the lead at the other end but his miskicked effort looped harmlessly over the bar from a threatening position.

The 27-year-old made no mistake from his next chance, however, as he combined with Junior Mendieta to finish off a well-worked team move with just under half an hour played on the clock.
Stellies’ lead until the half-time break and it was Man of the Match Rayners again who struck next on the hour mark, firing home a left-footed effort from the edge of the opposition’s box,
Not satisfied with a two-goal advantage, Barker’s charges went in search of a third goal and found it with ten minutes remaining in the tie.
This time, Rayners went from scorer to provider as he set up Nigerian midfielder Ibraheem Jabaar to seal the win with his third goal in his last six matches across all competitions.
