Stellies’ squad list and captains for 2023/24 DDC season

Stellenbosch FC’s DStv Diski Challenge campaign is set to get underway this weekend. Here’s all you need to know about the squad heading into the new season.

Stellies will get their 2023/24 DStv Diski Challenge season underway on Saturday when the club plays host to Chippa United at Idas Valley Stadium in Stellenbosch.

Ahead of the season, coach Evangelos Vellios has confirmed his 23-man squad, with the likes of Tony Mbunga, Rijul Pillay, Kyle Zenden, Kyle Bailey, Jean Topley, Langelihle Phili and Asherey Mokoena brought in, and  Tylon Smith, Liam Slade, and Keanan Johannessen promoted from the youth structures.

Shaakir Ahmed, who was recently awarded the club’s DDC Sportsman of the Season award for his leadership last season, has been named captain of the team, and he will be assisted by vice-captains Simthandile Sishi and the aforementioned Pillay.

Meanwhile, Athenkosi Mcaba, Liam De Kock, Kyle Jurgens, Jayden Adams, Antonio van Wyk, Thulani Mini, Devin Titus and Mervin Boji, who are all part of the first team set-up, remain eligible for selection this season should their services be required.
