Stellenbosch FC acquires Genino Palace from Maritzburg United
Stellenbosch Football Club is delighted to announce that the club has acquired the services of South Africa international Genino Palace on a permanent transfer from Maritzburg United.
The 24-year-old, who recently represented Bafana Bafana at the 2023 COSAFA Cup, has joined the club on a long-term deal after spending the last season-and-a-half in Pietermaritzburg.
Prior to that, Palace formed part of the youth and reserve ranks of Portuguese sides Académica de Coimbra, SC Braga, and Sacavenense, where he honed his trade as a technically-gifted midfielder.
“We are delighted with the signing of Genino Palace,” Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker said. “He’s a very energetic and exciting midfielder who we had monitored throughout last season.
“He adds a lot of value to our team as a box-to-box midfielder who can add to both our defence and our attack. He’s very athletic and a technically good footballer, who we are very pleased to have added to our ranks.”
