Steve Barker has reiterated his ambition to embark on a long cup run ahead of Sunday’s Nedbank Cup Round of 16 clash against TS Galaxy.
Stellenbosch take on TS Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium on Sunday.
The match is scheduled to kick-off at 15h00.
Steve Barker’s side are hoping to book a ticket to the quarter-finals for the first time in the club’s history.
Stellenbosch F.C. are in Nelspruit this weekend where the club is set to take on TS Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium for a spot in the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup.
The Maroons have never reached the last-eight in the competition, but head coach Steve Barker is hoping to change that fact on Sunday with a strong performances against the Rockets.
“We are looking forward to having a good cup run,” Barker said. “In the previous seasons, we hadn’t really had any joy in the cup competitions, so this provides us with us a platform and an opportunity to reach the quarter-final of a major tournament.
“Everyone has a huge desire to do well in the Nedbank Cup and the boys are raring to go, and our preparations for the match have also gone well.
“That said, it will be a tough encounter against TS Galaxy who are never an easy team to play against, especially away from home. They are a solid outfit who are difficult to break down and to score against.
“We are playing with some decent confidence though, and we have the belief that we can go there and get a positive result. The squad is in good spirits, the positivity is high and we have come off some positive results in the league and in the cup, so as a club we want to keep that momentum moving forward by having a good cup run.
“That momentum, we believe, can continue to elevate us not only in the competition, but in the league as well, so it’s important for us to do as well as we can this weekend.”
Sunday’s encounter will be broadcast live on SuperSport PSL 202 as well as on the DStv app. Team news will be available across Stellenbosch F.C. social media channels an hour before kick-off.
