Tyler Cicero named in SA U-17 AFCON camp
Stellenbosch F.C. Academy player Tyler Cicero has been called up to the South Africa U-17 a camp ahead of the upcoming 2023 U-17 CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Algeria.

Cicero will join up with the U-17 team next month ahead of a potential call-up to South Africa’s final squad for the U-17 AFCON in Algeria.

He was named in the Best XI following the qualification tournament late last year.

The 17-year-old is one of eight Stellenbosch F.C. players who have been called up by South Africa across the various age groups.
Cicero is one of 30 players who have been called up by South Africa U-17 coach Duncan Crowie to attend a camp that “will be used to select the final squad for the 2023 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Algeria in April.”
The 17-year-old was one of the country’s star players during the qualifying campaign where he featured in every match and was named in the Best XI at the U17 AFCON Algeria 2023 | COSAFA Qualifier tournament, with South Africa ending as eventual runners-up to Zambia.
Cicero will join up with the national team on 9 April 2023 ahead of the AFCON tournament, which is scheduled to take place between 29 April to 19 May 2023 and where South Africa have been drawn alongside Nigeria, Morocco and Zambia in Group B.
Elsewhere, Stellenbosch F.C.’s Jayden Adams, Olwethu Makhanya, Athenkosi Mcaba, Devin Titus and Antonio van Wyk were named in the provisional U-23 squad earlier this week, while Jordan Hendriks and Roger Willems will travel with the U-17 to Europe later this month for an international youth tournament in Poland.
