Last SFC home game for 2018 this Saturday

This coming Saturday the Stellenbosch Football Club will play its last home game of the year at Idas Valley Sports Grounds.

Kick-off for the Cape Umoya United game is at 15:30.

SFC is on a 10 match unbeaten streak.

On Sunday SFC travelled to Mpumalanga to take on TS Galaxy, who the previous weekend beat Ajax Cape Town in the Nedbank Cup qualifier. Some extreme weather conditions interrupted the match, but in the end the game was able to finished and it ended in a 1-1 draw. Captain Jarrod Moroole scored the first and only goal for Stellies.

SFC is currently leading the National First Division after 13 games. Stellies have 27 points after 8 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses. Three teams – Mbombela United, Tshakhuma FC and TS Sporting – are on 22 points. The opponent for the weekend Cape Umoya is last with 10 points and 2 wins.

Striker Iqraam Rayners is also still the league’s top goal-scorer with eight of Stellies’ 20 goals to his name. Moroole has scored five goals.

Captain Moroole and his players encourages all local fans to come out this weekend to support the team. “We would really like to end the year on a high at home and it would be great to do it in front of jam packed stadium. We have been getting some great support and if we can keep on producing results I’m sure the crowds will get even bigger.”

The last game of the year is Saturday 22 December against Maccabi FC. Action starts early in the 2019 and first up is Sunday 6 January against Royal Eagles.
