Stellenbosch must be feared, says SFC captain

When teams come to Stellenbosch to take on the Stellenbosch Football Club they must fear being here.

That are the words of SFC captain Jarrod Moroole. Stellenbosch will play its first home game this coming Sunday in Idas Valley. According Moroole the players can’t wait to get on the pitch and play in front of the home crowd.

Sunday’s National First Division match is against Mbombela United. Kick-off is at 15:00.

“We are so excited to play in front of and for the locals. To have a place to call our home ground is very important. Teams must fear it when they have to play in Stellenbosch,” said Moroole.

“Teams who do challenge for the league and go on to play for promotion are teams that have a solid home base. A place where they feel at home and where it is difficult for other teams to go to,” said coach Steve Barker.

“The previous stadiums where we played our home games did not really gave us that kind of advantage. Now we will play in front of people that we want to make proud with the way we play and with the results. We hope to build a supporter base in Stellenbosch and get a fanbase that will get behind the team.

“The important part is to capitalise on the advantage a home ground gives a team and make sure this becomes our fortress where we will be able to put teams under pressure and play to our full potential each and every home game.”

Entrance to Sunday’s game is free.
