Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker and assistant coach Wesley Sergel are among 25 coaches who will commence with the CAF A license coaching course on Monday.
Barker and Sergel have been afforded the opportunity to attend the CAF A coaching license through the South African Football Association after being selected from a pool of 65 applicants to take part in the 2023 edition of the programme.
Their attendance and participation in the course is in line with the commitment the senior coaches have made with regard to continuous development, growth, and learning, and their desire to boast the highest possible qualifications for their roles.
The CAF A license is also a requirement for coaches hoping to represent the club on the African continent and Barker and Sergel’s enrolment serves as a preparatory step toward that as the club continues to pursue its ambitions of competing in CAF tournaments in the coming seasons.
“We are both excited at the opportunity to enhance our knowledge, to learn and to grow, as well to interact with other coaches from across the country,” Barker said.
